Problems burning DVD+RW with Matshita UJ-120

I am unable to burn my Verbatim DVD+RW 8x .
It works sometimes, but most times I get "power calibration error" or "unknown burner error"
This just happens with this media. And maximum speed is set to 3.3x

Isn't the burner supposed to support 8x RW media?
All other "slower" media I've tried has worked.

Does anyone know if there is a firmware upgrade for this unit?

You can check if there is a Firmware update for your Vaio..

Either by the VAIO Update Utility: double click on the Vaio Update icon in your system tray and follow the instructions.
