Only a week into my new VGN -S1XP and a pixel has died on my screen.
Is this normal - I thought if you bought it and it was OK, pixels wouldn't start to die on you?
thanks

Actually it's expected, you get a paper within your VAIO package saying that some pixels will die.
but it's my first ever laptop, and should it have happened after just one week?
I am gutted ...

I guess they can happen anytime.
I guess if you asked the retailer to swap, you never know you might get another one.
It is an unfortunate thing with TFT LCD screens that can happen. Sony i beleve alow a max of 7 before they replace the screen, but dont quote me on that. It may also depend on where the dead pixel is.
Some times a resller will take it back but only a very few, and you normally whil have to kick up quite a fuss.
It normaly only occurs during the manufacturing of the screen or when the screen is first used for a while.
Yep - it's pot luck I'm afraid

i know people get tired of me saying this.... but its true...
sony gives you the bend-over feeling.... and that wants to make you take a 2 by 4 and walk into that dudes office, who's been ignoring you emails and who's telling all supporters no repair for vaio owners, and tare that dude of off his secretary and send him straight to the far end of the unemployement line and make sure he stays there....
puff.... i feel better now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
not sure I understand this post - are you saying that Sony does not provide good support?
rjstep3
thats exactly what i am saying
Only A Comment ,
But I have found nothig but support from Sony .
