Hi folks. I'm a newbie here, but I've owned a PCG-FX801 for a couple of years now. It's an XP machine, with 256 RAM and a 1.4Ghz processor.
I'm planning on taking it on a driving holiday soon, and I want to use it as an entertainment centre in the car for the kids, using it with a power invertor from the cigar lighter.
My problem is, whenever I playback regular DVDs the audio soundtrack is about 1/2 a second behind the video, and is incredibly choppy. There are no other processes running, and I'm managing to get the CPU usage down to about 3%, but it still does it, even running on mains power. It plays audio CDs and games without any problem at all.
I've downloaded all the latest drivers from the Vaio site too.
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks in advance
Hello
What DVD play back software are you using?? it might need upgrading or changing
Scott
Hi Scott
I've tried Windows Media Player (9 and 10), Interactual Player, and DivX player. They all do the same thing, which makes me think its hardware related, not software.
I've also installed the latest version of DirectX too.
Have you updated all the drivers for the computer? there might be new drivers out to improve the performance
Yes I have - unless you know of any others available other than the ones at http://www.vaio-link.com/downloads/
?
The DVD drive doesn't appear to be removable from the machine, but I'm guessing it'll be a Sony drive anyway?
Hi again
the drive could not be sony, sometimes they are toshiba and pioneer for the sony laptops, try removing the driver then reinstalling it, something might be conflicting with the driver. if that does not work qive the lens a good clean because the DVD part of lens burns into the disc more because there is more information to be read,
