hi guys, when I inserted my memory stick and card to the built in device inside my laptop yesterday, the plug and play did not work, so I tried to open it manually. Still no luck. I got the message - please insert a disk into drive. Please help.
Hi zainalngah and welcome.
What Model do you have?
XP or Vista?
Is the Memory Stick drive shown in (My) Computer as "Memory Stick X:\"?
Is it still shown as installed in Device Manager -> Disc Drives as HS-MS USB Device?
Try reinstalling the driver from C:\Drivers\Memory_Stick or C:\Drivers\FlashMedia (depending on your model).

Hi Blencogo, thanks for your reply. My model is VGN-T1XP, I am using XP service pack 3. In My Computer, the Memory Stick drive is shown as MemoryStick (E:). In device manager, it says this device is working properly. I noted the location is FlashMedia 1.
How do I reinstall now?
Thank you very much.
Cheers mate.
Try this first: -
Right-Click on the device in Device Manager and choose 'Uninstall' -> OK
Re-Boot and the driver should be reinstalled.
Does it work now?
If not then try this: -
Right-Click on the device in Device Manager and choose 'Update Driver'
No Not This Time
Install from a list or specific location
Don't search - I will choose a driver
Have Disc
Browse to C:\Drivers\Memorystick\1.0.2.0\TIFMSONY.INF
Good luck!

thanks, still no luck. Not sure now what to do.
The only next step would be to restore your Vaio to factory settings to establish if it is a hardware fault or a software problem. This would either fix it or show that a repair is needed.
This is quite a big job if you have had your Vaio for a while. Any hardware repair is probably not worth it when you can buy a USB reader - something like these - for a few pounds: -
USB Card Readers

Hi, thanks for helping. I tried everything suggested. Still no luck. It is a shame I have to buy a USB reader. Never mind. Thank you.
