Memory Stick drive not working - any suggestions?

Hi,

I have a Vaio BX61MN laptop with Vista Business. Installed SP1 about a month ago, although I was not aware of the prerequisite downloads before installing SP1.

My Memory Stick drive no longer works, although I don't know if this is connected to installing SP1. I can see the icon in 'Computer' but if I click on it I am asked to insert a disk into the drive. I have tried it with a number of memory sticks.

I have used the Vaio support service, and after a few suggestions they have told me my only option is a full system recovery. I have tried a couple of restore points, but don't have one before SP1 was installed, otherwise I would try that.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks guys

Laura

Hi Laura,

I would try reinstalling the Memory Stick driver before trying a full recovery.

You should find the Texas Instruments driver in C:\Drivers\FlashMedia or if you don't have the directory C:\Drivers, you can download the Original Drivers Package for your model from Vaio-Link.

Thanks Blencogo.

Unfortunately I did not have that directory, and there was no driver for me to download from Vaio-Link. I therefore did a full system restore, and the bl**dy thing still isn't working

I'm really at my wits end, the card reader was one of the things that attracted me to this laptop, and I'm beginning to wish I'd stuck with my old USB card reader.
