AR41E Fitting a Blu-ray drive.

Hello everyone.

Does anyone know if it's possible to fit an internal Blu-ray drive to this notebook and if so roughly how much they cost?

Many thanks in advance.

Pete.

Hi Pete and welcome.

Laptop drives that are Blu-Ray ROM Drives (Play Blu-Ray but cannot record it) and DVD rewriters are about £180 - have a look at this one: -

A blu-ray rewriter will cost you over £400.

The AR41E does not have a HD screen so it is not worth getting a BD Drive unless you intend connecting the Vaio to a HD TV/Display by HDMI.

Wait until your warranty expires!!!!!!

Thanks Blencogo.
I have a Toshiba HD-DVD player which is great but I thought I'd see what Blu-ray was like. At that price it may well be worth just getting a stand-alone player or PS3 but with the HDMI connection it may be worth investing later on in an internal drive.
The warranty expires in a few weeks.
I assume replacing the drive is a bit more fiddly than a Fujitsu I had where the drive just slide out.

Hi Pete,

Removing the drive is not too bad. Just remove the 3 marked screws in the bottom of the AR and slide out.
