Do you still have the original Operating System installed?

The Product Key for the OEM Operating System is not a valid activation key. 

It cannot be used to clean install another commercial version of the OS and is only applicable to the Sony OS. 

If you ever have to reinstall the Sony OS you will never have to enter a Product Key as it activates automatically.  This is designed to stop piracy as this OS should never be installed on any other PC. 

The Product Key is only of use if you need to quote it to get support from Microsoft.  Basically, you have bought the OEM Sony OS - not a retail version.
