i own a VGN-BX61VN and want to upgrade my memory to 4gb but the online manual here > http://support.vaio.sony.co.uk/tutorials/memory/memory.asp?site=voe_en_GB_cons. only shows how to remove 1 slot is the other under the keyboard ? if so how do i remove it
any help would be great! ty. paul...
Hi Paul,
No, there are two slots and two memory modules under the cover on the bottom of your Vaio.
ive looked there is only 1 slot under that panel 😞 http://img185.imageshack.us/my.php?image=image010kx9.jpg
remove the .th from the address for that picture to link it to the fullsize pic.
But yes, there is only one slot, so you're only going to get a max of 2GB in there. unless another piece is under another cover. Though that'd be just odd design
Hi Paul,
according to the BX61VN specifications your Vaio is only able to support a maximum of 2GB of RAM..
You can view the BX61VN specs using the following link: BX61VN specifications
so why does mine say i have 2 memory banks and the 1 i have looked at says 1gb and my laptop has 2gb there is another stick some place :s
Hi Paul,
Sony have obviously changed the design for the BX61.
There is no explanation in the User Guide or the Specifications.
I have asked Sony to let us know where the second module is and if it is replaceable. We will probably not hear from Sony before next week.

i can wait till then
