SCREEN PROBLEM LOOKS BAD

I tried to open the support link but did not work, so let's see here.

The screen is fading! The image is weak and the borders of the screen are blank. I am working on an external monitor, so I do not believe is the driver. When a window opens it slowly superimposes the previous window. When I move the cursor it just dissapears and reappears were I stop very slowly.

I think the refresh rate and the colours are dying... but why? What is wrong???

YES, the screen stays the same. I belive one fo the lamps or something went bust. I am using an external monitor now and the driver is clearly working.

Hi jnf,

unfortunately it sounds like it could possibly be either the inverter, a faulty cable or backlight bulb..

I suggest you either contact Sony Vaio support, you can do this either by phone or via e-Support, use the following link to find the contact details: Sony Vaio Support

Or

See if a local repairer in your area can fix your problem, get a quote first though..

TRhanks Thalamus for your trying to help, I appreciate.

I will bring it to a SONY centre and see what they say.

Normally it should be under guarantee as I bought it less than a year ago. Unfortunately I did not buy it in this country and I have to ask that the receipt is sent to me by the accountant of my company there.

Let's hope, I did not get the worldwide insurance... because I am stupid.

Hey there, got the same prob with my vaio. Had been using an external monitor when I unplugged it one day laptop screen went back to normal, unfortunately did not last, went wonky after a month or so, which makes me suspect loose conection. Did you resolve your issue?

HI,

I answered earlier, but something must have gone wrong.

SONY took my laptop and returned after 3 days repaired and cleaned. THANKS!!!!

Apparently it was a liquid cristal display problem. There were no details given. What is clear is that the whole screen was replaced, becaue I can see the casing is new too.

The laptop was in fact still under guarantee. I am impressed how fast they did it. I waited stupidly for my accountant in another country to send me the receipt... because I registered online the purchase the day I got it and thus no receipt was asked!

Thanks to SONY for the super service.

Hi Jorge,

It is very refreshing to hear from one of the hundreds of Vaio owners happy with Sony's excellent repair service.

All too often, we only hear from the few who are less than happy!

Thank you for posting your experiences.
