Batttery Problem

Still in warranty. Basically my battery charging is weird. Its plugged in and supposedly charging but when I hover over the battery icon in vista it does go down. After a while it will go down to 0 and then all of a sudden say wait it is fully charged. It is fully charged as I can run my laptop of the battery but its weird. Fz11z model. Any help will be good. Cheers. Not sure if its a windows problem or a Battery fault or what. cheers.

hi hamsterham this is a windows fault the best way to sort this out will be t backup any data that you want to keep and do a vaio recovery located in the start menu this will then restore the laptop to as new state and 9/10 will fix any problems.

if it was the battery then you would get a warning message and the battery would cut off when not connected to the mains power

since I posted this it was on 33% and now it is 29% plugged in. It does come up with a warning and then a while later bang 100% and its fine. are you sure a recovery will fix it.

It just went to 0% then about a minute or two later bang 100% and it is 100% :S I will do a restore, Nearly done backing music up lol.

going to do a recovery tonight. if it does not work then my only bet is to ring up for a repair. I hope it does work. Tis so weird tho as in down the battery goes then if left plugged in it will realise its actually been charged. Hopefully all will go well with the recovery. Fingers crossed.

hi my sisters have vista on there laptops one had a problem with sound and the dvd drive a restore fixed those and my other sister have battery and graphics problems and this was also fixed by the recovery i have mine (fs315m) on xp and have had no problems for 2 years but vista has had alot a bad credit with faults such as these

Just done a restore and still same problem. Will ring them tomorrow to arrange for them to fix it. Last time I got my keyboard replaced and it took a week so I am hoping it only takes a week again. Cheers for the help.

did some testing with mates battery & laptop and I have solved the issue. Battery is faulty/poor lol. Does any one know where to buy laptop batteries. If i buy one of sony it is to expensive. Would you trust this

yes i would go for this m8 this is a bargin as for mine even on ebay its £179
and it has the sony lable and also has six months return
just make sure its the correct amp ans wattage

At that price you can afford to try this Chinese battery and report back to us.

Perhaps I am a pessimist but I do believe you get what you pay for. We have seen some third party battery compatibility problems with Vaios running Vista and the 'returns' policy doesn't look too good to me.

Please let us all know if this battery works OK.
