Administrator priviledges

Does anyone know a way around the annoying way Vista (or is it Sony Vaio ?) put up admin blocks when installing new software ? I have an HP Officejet 5510 which wont fully install as I do not have the correct admin priviledges. I have tried the on screen suggestions to allow me to install but without success. This is within installshield. I really do not want to buy new printers. No one seems to have had this problem or has a solution as in other tech websites my query has not been answered....please help a newbie to Vista. Thanks so much in advance.

if Jumpy's solution does not help have you tried running the Vista Program Compatibility Wizard, this can be found in Vista help..?
