unrecognised battery

hello vaio team,
Last year I bought a Sony Vaio FE41S and I'm really happy with it. Only the last couple of weeks i have problems with my battery. I never removed it or anything but since a couple of weeks my notebook doesn't recognise my battery. When I disconnect power from my notebook it gets turned off. How can I fix this problem? I rarely use my notebook on another place then my home so I can't believe my battery is broken. Can someone help me?

gr. Tom

Hi Tom,

Just thinking about the obvious first, try removing the battery, gently clean the contacts with some isopropyl alcohol and re-insert the battery. You may just have some dust in there, if that fails contact your vendor you could have a faulty battery although Sony do have a good reputation for battery quality.

Hi There

It looks like the battery is dead.
Approaching the vendor would be the best bet - I don't think the Sony Warranty covers batteries.

Hi Tom,

a simple way to check if this is a battery or possible hardware problem is to take your Vaio to a local stockist and ask if you can try another VGP-BPS2C battery in your Vaio..

As far as I am aware the following models should have a similar battery VAIO VGN-AR, VGN-SZ, VGN-FE and VGN-N series
