I had the unfortunate accident of spilling wine on the keyboard of my Vaio VGN-NR 10E/S while it was on. It continued to work without problems. Later I had to clean it from the awful stench of wine using a sponge filled with water and gave the keyboard several wipes with the computer tilted on its side and battery disconnected.
Some of the keyboard keys became sticky and typing its charecter with the adjacent one (2 charecters). I send it to Sony Repair Centre and paid the advance fee of £188.92 for the change of keyboard. 3 days later I was told the cost of the repair will be £650 so I declined the repair and the unit was send back to me with the smell of the wine still on it and a report that the unit was not repaired.
I switched it on and the unit was functioning fully with the origional keyboard. I am glad I refused the repair and the payment of £650. I only paid the initial fee of £188.92.
I am maized how good and sturdy Sony manufacture is but the repair facility here has astonished me.
Any body with interesting experience of semilar kind?
