VPCF13M0E/B left click faulty

Hey all,

Been having some problems with my laptop recently. Since i did a clean OS install without all of the factory bloatware its been a great computer.....

Until the left click on the touchpad decided to throw a hissy fit.

Sometimes it works perfectly, other times i need to click it 10 times from desktop to open firefox or any other application from the desktop for that matter.

Ive tried a USB mouse and that works fine.

Ive been into control panel and it says under Alps Pointing-device "Device is working properly"

Ive tried rebooting the machine, deleting and reinstalling the driver manually, removing the battery for half an hour, all to no avail.

any ideas or any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi popeye89,

Which version of the Alps Driver do you have installed? Do you have Windows 7?

However, an intermittent problem with the left-click is odds-on to be a hardware problem which will require a repair.

Is your Vaio still within Warranty?

Hi Blencogo, thanks for your reply.

Im using windows 7 64 bit and the driver version is 7.105.529.104

And thats the most frustrating thing. its literally 1 month out of warranty.

Hi popeye89.

Just check that it shows as an "Alps" installed driver in Device Manager - not a PS2 mouse.

Unless anyone else has any ideas, I'm afraid it looks like hardware.
