I keep on getting the blue screen that says:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage...

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

If this is teh first time youve seen this Stop error...

Then it goes on to say:

Technical Information:
*** stop:0x000000D1
(0x0000000D, 0x00000000, 0xF87c2cc2)
*** PCIIDEX.SYS - Address F87c3cc2 base at F87C 3000, Date stamp 41107b4c

I have no idea what that means but i put it jus tincase someone knows.
If anyone can help i would really really appreciate it, thank you

PCIIDEX.SYS is a PCI IDE Bus Driver Extension and is one of the drivers for your ATA Storage Controller.

Either the Driver is corrupt or it is trying to use an impossibly high IRQL. It could also indicate a hard drive problem as the stop error is caused by the hard disc controller.

Go to Device Manager and expand the "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers".
Double Click on the ATA Storage Controller (on my computer this is an 'Intel(R) 8280' device).
Select 'Driver'>Details and check that PCIIDEX.SYS is being used.
Uninstall the driver and reboot.

If this doesn't work you may have to install a different version of the driver manually as the PCIIDEX.SYS in your System32 directory may be buggered. Search in C:\Windows\i386\SP2.CAB although I think it is available in several different places.

Good Luck

Done it...

I uninstalled it as you said and then rebooted and turned it back on with no problems.

Is this all i need to do?

Thanks

Let's hope so Franz,

I hope you had an IRQ conflict and reinstalling the driver has allocated a new IRQ ..............

.................... but if you continue to get problems we are back to looking for a poor connection - possibly between your Main Board and your Hard Drive or inside your Hard Drive.

Fingers Crossed !!!
