okay, so i brought a sony vaio SVE1512B1EW many years ago, and have barely used the laptop. it has been in storage for a long time but now i need it as i have started studying.
The laptop is running super slow and laggy (which is expected as it hasn't had any updates).
i tried updating to windows 10 via google and it wouldn't let me. So i went to settings>PC Settings>Windows update ... it says i'm set to automatically install updates, it then says 'we'll install 166 important updates automatically' ... so my question is how can i get windows 10? i'm seeing people getting it for free but google says to pay for it (which seems ridiculous if i have windows 8 (my girlfriend updated her HP laptop for free).
please any help on this issue and to make my laptop faster would be great (i just need to use word and web browsing.
thanks in advance
Hi,
the free upgrade has stopped on 29 July 2016, the upgrade was free for Windows 7 SP1 and Windows 8.1 (not from 8 but 8.1).
Now, if you want Windows 10 you have to buy it.
Maybe, for a solution (after 29 July) you can search better in Google...
