Definitely not. The look nice but they are very bad quality. I had to pay £350 for mine to be repaired a month after I bought. After sale customer service also extremely bad

Hi Stewie,

You have to take a balanced view and realise that the large majority of many thousands of happy Vaio owners do not often come to these forums and tell everyone they have no problems and that they love their Vaios..  It is predominantly users with problems who post here.

Like all manufacturers, there will always be some units and components that fail - that is unfortunately a fact of life.  Occasionally, the after sales service falls short of our expectations but this happens with other makers and in other walks of life and Sony is always trying to improve.

Others, like the last poster 'uselesssony', complain about the after sales service because they do not get their unreasonable demands met.  Uselesssony did not receive poor service - Sony simply refused to repair for free a Vaio he had physically damaged in an accident.  No manufacturer's warranty covers accidental damage but for some reason he thought Sony should pay and he now takes every opportunity to unreasonably slag off Sony.

Let me be clear. I would not wish to stop users with a genuine grievance from reporting their experiences here - and we do hear a few horror stories - but I would ask you to take a considered view.  Just look at other makers' forums and you will see the same trends there.

All I can say is that from personal experience, I have had three Vaios since 2004 and I have only had one problem - a DVD drive failed and Sony replaced it under warranty and returned it within 7 days.

I do not work for Sony and I will be happy to buy another Vaio when the time comes to replace my current Vaios.

Don't forget to consider that 'silent majority'.

yea, ive been looking around on google and whatnot and there dosent seem to be a whole lot of bad reviews. there dosent seem to be alot of good reviews either though.

i found some websites that review this kind of thing, but i wanted personal reviews by the general public.

thanks for both of your replies, ill keep looking around and see if i can make a decision soon

Blencogo (aka 'I don't work for Sony'),

It is very convenient to blame your customer for the poor quality of your products.

Customer Service - if someone tells me three times over a period of a week that I will get a call back and nothing happens, I personally call this very poor service.
