Problems after un-installing IE9

I recently installed Internet Explorer 9 by mistake - thinking it was a normal update, not realising that it was just a beta version - I didn't like it and went through the procedure of uninstalling the update in order to get back to IE8. Ever since then I've had problems.

If I start IE8, then my Windows Live Mail won't connect to my servers to download mail. If I start the mail program first and download my mail then IE8 won't load any webpages just keeps showing trying to connect. My internet connection is fine - only problems with these applciations.

Any ideas why and any solutions?

Thanks!

Not alone with this problem.

Try removing IE8 and re-installing it:

Step 1: To uninstall Internet Explorer 8, follow these steps:

  • a. Close all programs.

  • b. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

  • c. Click Programs and Features.

  • d. In the tasks pane, click Turn Windows features on or off.

  • e. In the list of windows features, clear the check box next to Internet Explorer 8.

  • f. You receive a warning message in a pop-up window. Click Yes.

  • g. Internet Explorer 8 will now be uninstalled. The system will restart after the installation.

Step 2: Re-Install IE8

  • h. Repeat the steps a- d

  • i. In the list of windows features, check the box next to Internet Explorer 8.

  • j. You receive a warning message in a pop-up window. Click Yes.

  • k. Internet Explorer 8 will now be re-installed. The system will restart after the installation.

Let me know how you get on!
