No Power

No Power

I have a Sons Model PCG-7D1M (although I think its an FS513-E) and went to power it up this morning and nothing. Tried another power socket, same. Swapped out the fuse, same. The powerpack is cold, like it's not been plugged in to trickle charge. What you think folks, duff power pack or is there a history of that model self destructing. It's only about 6 months old from brand new from Dixons so will be covered by warranty I guess, just annoying having to wait till their service lines open on Monday. Perhaps I should just go into Dixons and demand a new power pack.

Sony also say you should hold down the power button for 5 seconds

Thanks to all, spoke to the Sony guy on the helpline, asked me to take out battery and remove AC power. At his point I was a bit sceptical but he asked me to hold down the power button for 30 seconds then power up with the mains connected only...VOILA. All was well, something to do with static build up he said.

Actually no that's not what you said at all Kai, you said 5 seconds, the sony helpline guy said 30 seconds. Thanks anyway..

Well whatever, it actually doesn't make that much difference.

Actually it does to me, his advice fixed it while yours (though well intentioned) didn't. Best to end the thread here.

Thanks anyway.

Alright, but saying that my advice wasn't actually right wasn't 100% true.

Anyway take or leave my advice
