Laptop Battery Status Error

Hello,

My laptop is a Sony Vaio FS45E
Im running windows xp pro

The power meter in the bottom right corner (near the clock) i have noticed when charging my vaio, the logo has a plug with a lightening bolt through it suggesting that it is charging. However when the charge has reached 100% the battery reports that it is still charging and the lightening bolt in the icon does not disappear.

Is there a remedy to this or is it just a glitch. Thanks David

Welcome to the Clubbe,
Lithium Batteries all contain a microchip which governs the battery from being overcharged and keeps it at room temperature (they can explode without this). The 0.7 watt of charge that mobile battery meters display is the chip drawing power to operate. The only thing that wears out the battery is discharging it.

Hi thanks for a speedy reply, the only reason for asking this was my old laptop, compaq evo n1005v, once charged, the icon in the tray changed to a 'plugged in' state rather than charging (lightening bolt through plug) and repoted to be on AC. David
