Desparate
I did a customised (full) install of Windows 7 from XP pro and now very little works besides the web.
I've also checked sony for the appropriate drivers with no luck.
Need HELP to be productive again, work & patience suffering badly.
Regards

Solved! Go to Solution.
HMMMM .... There does not seem to be a Memory Card Driver under the Vista Tab.
Try reinstalling the XP driver - you will find it under the UPDATES Tab under Drivers - it's called 'Texas Instruments Memory Stick Driver'.

If it doesn't work you will have to look for a Vista/Win7 TI Driver.
What... No one can Help!!
I surely can't be the only one suffering.
No mike, no wireless, no AV mode, no DVD open/shut etc
Please help!!

I think most people would stick with XP on an older Vaio with a low power processor - especially as Sony do not support Windows 7 on your model.
All the features you have lost are driven by drivers and utility software which is not available for Windows 7 on your model.
However, most of the Windows Vista Drivers/Utilities may work with Windows 7 so I would install exerything on the Vista downloads page here: -

When all these are installed you will have to check what is still not working and troubleshoot individual non-functioning drivers.
Thank you so much for your very quick response & attention.
Its a great little machine so I'll give it a go.
Cheers
Ahhh progress... most of the components seem to be working.
Still not reading sd card slots
