Hard Drive failures

Hi all,

I've put in my Vaio (XL201) 2 additional hard drives (3 in total: the bay is full).

And it's been the second time that one of them burns. They're not crap - Samsung and Seagate.

I've installed a software that displays the temperature of the hard drives, and they're all above 50 deg C, almost all the time.

I'm starting to think that maybe this computer is heating too much to be equipped with 3 drives.

Has anybody experienced such thing?

Thanks a lot

Hi clivadio,

there could be a heat problem due to adding 2 additional HDD inside your XL201..

Maybe try removing the middle HD drive and see if that helps.?

Hi and thanks for your answer.
Yes this is what I will do - I've purchased an external HD eSata box.
But it's weird since the PC has 3 bays, I thought it was designed to welcome 3 drives correctly.

Is there no way to add another fan or a faster fan? In the RA104 the fans are like 799rpm
