GRZ 515g replace hardrive

Hello Sony people
I have a grz 515g which only has a 30gb drive.
The drive is a toshiba mk3018gas (i got it out to look) 2.5".
I have a few questions about replacing it.
Can I use a 3.5" drive to replace 2.5" as they seem more available?
Does it have to be ATA100?
I am presuming that replacing the current 4200 speed with 7200 will speed up apps such as Premiere / After effects?
Where best to buy internal drive online (I am in Scotland)

Also the max ram is 512mb!!!!. Can I update the bios and increase the max ram?

I would like to suggest a Mobile Hard Drives. I have a LaCie myself and works very well several years. Take a look here..

To update the Bios, i think that is not the best solution.
