Hi,
I have recently (the last few weeks) noticed my PCG-K115Z freezing. It never used to do this, but recently has done so more than once a day.
I cant move the cursor, nor type a thing on the keyboard.... my only way to recover is to switch the laptop off and then on again.
I also seem to regularly use the power saving mode, where the monitor switches off during periods of inactivity, but the recently, it has been impossible to switch back to normal use. Again, the only option is to power down and then up again.
I am runnning off mains, without battery connected if that makes any difference.
Anyone know what the prob is? I have ruled out overheating as it today done it after a good 12 hours rest.
Thanks
Here's how i got my problem sorted. I went into the power management config screen (Control Panel --> Power Settings). There's a tab specific for Vaio power mgmt.
In the dropdown for Harddisk, the default is optimize for performance - i chose "Optimize Noise" and the noise quitened down!
Needless to say, performance has taken a small hit, but since the small drop is tolerable for the applications i use it for - i am good!
Thanks for the msconfig tip, though came in very handy.
