Hi,
I have recently (the last few weeks) noticed my PCG-K115Z freezing. It never used to do this, but recently has done so more than once a day.
I cant move the cursor, nor type a thing on the keyboard.... my only way to recover is to switch the laptop off and then on again.
I also seem to regularly use the power saving mode, where the monitor switches off during periods of inactivity, but the recently, it has been impossible to switch back to normal use. Again, the only option is to power down and then up again.
I am runnning off mains, without battery connected if that makes any difference.
Anyone know what the prob is? I have ruled out overheating as it today done it after a good 12 hours rest.
Thanks
I have a PCG-FX702 and i have exactly the same problem. It only started happening recently. I run my notebook off a mains supply most of the time, though with the battery still connected. Has anyone else experienced this?
Are you a heavy user also?
Funny thing about mine is, when I logged into Vaio Link, found my warranty ran out earlier this month! Which is roughly when the problems started occurring - ironic!
Also, I haven't even had my laptop a year, I dont think, so not sure how long the warranty should be.

Try reformating just your c drive and save everything you need on the d drive which of course won't be formatted unless you instruct it to. I suspect that your system needs a tweak or two but it is more likely that some bullshit spyware has upset your already sensitive to problems vaio. Good luck
This has been reported before, do you use the wireless network by any chance?

The PC would freeze and reboot after something like 1hr using the wireless network.
If I remember it was Kei who reported it but the search engine doesn't find his post
Try to disable everything in msconfig.
( start -> run -> type "msconfig" -> startup tab )
Then see if the problem happens again.
hi.
I tried doing this, but the noise starts immediately after booting (even before i see the starting windows screen). And yes, i am using Wireless
My config:
PCG-K115Z / 512 Mb Ram
Windows XP with the latest patches and
Spyware and Virus clean
Appreciate any further suggestions.
I sorted my problem by getting a new laptop.
Got me a lovely FS315Z now.... so far, no MAJOR problems with it, but seems all Vaio's are error prone.
