I've got very slow mobile broadband which I use at home. It might be a lot better if my laptop was on top of my wardrobe (due to better reception), but that's not very practical, and I don't want a long lead from my VAIO to a dongle on top of a wardrobe. What I need is something which plugs into the USB (currently occupied by the broadband dongle), which talks wirelessly to something which I can put on top of the wardrobe, into which I can plug the dongle, and the two 'somethings' are the same as a long lead so far as the VAIO and dongle are concerned. I don't think any alternative involving a network would work because the dongle is advertised as plugging into a laptops's USB, not a network. Perhaps I'm being very optimistic in asking here first in case Sony make anything like it, and the idea of two wireless things that are just like a wire except for the wire might be too crazy for anyone but me to think of, but does anyone know of anything?
I've got 3 mobile broadband but I don't blame them because I get rotten TV reception and use my old TV as a table.
