my understanding on the UK phones is that the updates must be approved by all carriers
It wouldnt surprise me if the next update is Jelly Bean TBH, it isnt a million miles away now according to K900 so why bother with an ICS update.
Rubbish, firmware updates do not alter the phone in any physical way. I can understand the networks wanting their own customizations sorting out but every other manufacturer releases firmware for SIM free handsets first.
I don't understand your comment at all, why would software alter hardware?
They wont so why on earth would the carriers need to check a SIM free hanset when the hardware will not have changed in anyway shape or form.
This is getting beyond a joke now, i love my Xperia S to bits, its design is bold and different but the bugs in the current UK ICS are laughable, they effect the basic operation of the phone which worked perfect in gingerbread and nearly 4 months on we are still in the buggy mire.
Roll on the Nexus 4.
