you shouldn't stop them, there's a reason why they are running but if you don't use those apps just uninstall them or disable them

settings > apps > all > look for the app > disable/uninstall it

do NOT use any taskiller, antivirus, task manager

yeah man, task killers basically kill your phone :smileysilly:. As Uliwooly said, disable what you don't use, and don't stop services like homescreen or settings and stuff you use every second. Try restarting your phone, and see what services are on. Don't stop those services. Everything else you can stop it without a problem.

as long as you use everything, you don't have what space to save. basically xperia p has 1 gb ram, from that you are left with 450-500 (max) usable. Ram it's made to be used, so don't worry about it. All you need it's like 150 mb free when you use the phone regularly, and it won't lag. My current free ram it's about 320 mb.

Btw, when you stop apps like Google Maps and such, they will automatically start again. If you don't use them, disable them.
