YouView on Android TV
Finally fed up with lack of population of the EPG on my 2014 receiver and am looking at a 4K alternative. I want a recording model. I note warnings that Satellite operation and HDD recording are disabled when the YouView EPG is installed.
So before I invest ...
1. Is the YouView EPG voluntary?
2. If So are Sony going to continue to update software for those who choose not to use YouView?
3. Why on earth has this situation arisen, losing functionality to supply a new service seems barmy?
Do I finally have to abandon Sony?

Hi there
Lets see if i can answer your questions.
- You can enable or disable YouView at your leisure. However upon disabling YouView, you will need to retune the satellite channels back in.
- Yes. YouView is simply another EPG. Firmware will be the same in the UK.
- Thats a good question. YouView is basically a Freeview EPG. but there must be a technical reason why you can run two EPGs concurrently - especially from the Sat tuner. Not the most user friendly approach i must admit.
Do you want to abandon Sony - Obviously your choice, but it is widely known and accepted that the picture quality is excellent and ahead of the competition.
Cheers
