Hi all,
Why have Sony abandoned FreeSat from their TV's???
This would be a great addition especially if this could be used and flicking between this and YouView would be amazing.
Also recording from either or both.
having a two tuner YouView and dual tuner FreeSat would be immensely popular.
i fail to understand the logic of not
Hi there
Unfortunately no one other than Sony knows why they do not offer Freesat. You could try contacting Sony about this, but I am not confident that you would receive a satisfactory answer. Sony is aware the lack of a satellite EPG - but at current the official answer is that Sony TVs are sold and marketted as Freeview.
Cheers
This could be the issue taht forces me to switch brands. I am keen to upgrade from my old Bravia, and would like to stay with Sony. Aparat frmo anythin else, we have other devices with Sony remote controls and it helps a lot to be able to switch between remotes for common functions.
But where we live we only get the full range of channels here by Freesat.
Samsung and LG both have TVs with Freesat built-in. Why not Sony?
Wow - was just about to order a Sony Bravia KD55AF9 OLED HDR 4K until this post confirmed this. My current sony has the full work compared to this apparent upgrade... I didn't mind losing the 3D, but the without FreeSat I'll only get internet services as I've never had an an aerial. Bye bye Sony...
Sony should do
4K/UHD, 3D,
FreeSat HD, YouView & FreeView HD
FreeView Play, FreeSat Freetime.
All catch-up players
(BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, All4, My5, UKTV Play)
Netflix, Amazon, YouTube, Now TV, in 4K.
2020 and they have listened and do support it! My qe55q85 is now tuned to terrestrial, satellite and Freesat. Mind you cannot find anything on their site showing the one connect box with tv and satellite connections like mine
That is because your ‘Sony’ is a Samsung 😛
Sony Android now does FreeSat.

although this isn’t it probably never will be available on my KD-XG9005.
Yeh it's a pity. The XG9005 is missing from the list of 2019 TVs. 😞
I think Sony for some reason handcuffed this TV and miss-sold it as being a tv worth having.
the tvs made in the same year (2019) higher and lower priced all have better software.
this tv is a major disappointment.
