Too Loud

Hi, I’ve purchased a Sony KD48A9 Oled TV and the sound is way too loud. When I turn it down I can’t hear the voices.

Any idea? My old Sony Plasma was perfect and I’m really struggling with this TV.

Here’s an article that may help:-

https://www.tomsguide.com/uk/us/sony-tv-settings-guide,review-5605-20.html

It’s dated Sep 11 2020, though it then has a headline about 2018 TVs; but I’m hoping the details are applicable to your set, in general if not exactly.

Clear Audio+ and Voice Zoom may be good places to start; whichever settings deal with dialogue enhancement.

My favourite bedtime reading is a Sony product manual…

Try performing the acoustic auto calibration to adjust the sound to your room: https://helpguide.sony.net/tv/haep1/v1/en/01-03-09_05.html?hl=sound. And it might help to choose the proper setting for the content you're playing: https://helpguide.sony.net/tv/haep1/v1/en/01-03-09_04.html?hl=sound.

Hello @Matthewothomas,

what source are you watching content from?

If you are streaming and using only the TV speakers, make sure to select the stereo mix (named 2.0 or 2.1) instead of the sourround mix (5.1 etc.).

If you use the sourround mix while just using the TVs speakers, the dialogue will be mapped to the (in this case not existing) center speaker and therefore be drowned out by any other audio.

For the stereo mix the dialogue is mapped into the left and right channel.
