Has anyone attached a sonos arc and sub to this TV? I'm not sure if I need to alter anything on the TV to make this soundbar work better. I have changed earc to auto. Anything else I should do?
The sonos arc is not brilliant and the speech is very poor so wondered if anything needed adjusting on the TV?
Can you try toggling the TV between PCM and bitstream?
With PCM, the TV decodes the audio, best it can, and passes the result to the soundbar; with bitstream, the signal is passed straight to the soundbar undecided, for it to decode it.
So bitstream ought to sound better here.
If PCM sounds better than bitstream, though, I would review my choice of soundbar, or at least go onto the Sonos Community for help.
But it may be no bad thing to post this query on their forum anyway.
Thanks for your reply. Do I choose auto 1 or 2?
@royabrown2 thank you. Please can you, or anyone else, confirm for a soundbar (ideally sonos arc), with earc, what the following settings should be for:
Volume offset
Dolby dynamic range (standard or compressed)
HE-AAC Dynamic Range (standard or compressed)
HE-AAC audio level, if choose compressed
A/V Sync Auto/on/off
Earc mode auto/off
Digital audio help auto 1/auto2/pcm
Dolby digital plus output (dolby digital plus or dolby digital)
Pass through mode Auto/off
Awaiting the answers to this query as I haven’t altered any tv settings since I bought the ARC.
This is all great stuff ( asked an identical question over on the Sonos Community ). I had to phone Richer Sounds as I couldn’t find the eArc port on my Sony AF9; their answer was that whilst my 2018 tv doesn’t have the eArc port ( Arc only) eArc is enabled via software update.
mine is a new 2020 tv and it does have an earc port. Im sure with the kit I have I can get it right. Its just trying to figure what everything should be set at.
Can anyone at all help???
Please can you confirm for the sonos arc what the following settings should be on for the Sony bravia oled TV with sonos arc and sub:
Volume offset
Dolby dynamic range (standard or compressed)
HE-AAC Dynamic Range (standard or compressed)
HE-AAC audio level, if choose compressed
A/V Sync Auto/on/off
Earc mode auto/off
Digital audio help auto 1/auto2/pcm
Dolby digital plus output (dolby digital plus or dolby digital)
Pass through mode Auto/off
The ARC/eARC port is always HDMI 3 on Sony TVs (even if it's only labeled ARC and received eARC through an update)
As for the rest of the settings, it's mostly up to your personal preference. If you perceive a difference when changing any given option, make sure to adjust it to your liking as there's no right or wrong setting. The sound quality depends on many factors such as the content being played, the acoustics of your room and most importantly, your own ears.
Some settings such as AV Sync and Digital Audio Auto1/2 are meant to be changed if there's an issue with the sound (lip sync) or no sound at all. They have no effect on the quality.
