Greetings & Wish all of you a very Merry Xmas in advance. Guys I have woken up to Android TV version 9 on my KD-65X9000F couple of weeks back & ever since experiencing a strange behavior. My TV is connected to ONKYO sound system and when the Audio system is turned off, TV keeps on switching from TV Speaker to Audio System once in few seconds time, thus causing no Audio (or say, I can hear the audio on TV speaker for a moment, then TV tries to route the audio to Audio system and so on)
If I keep the Audio system on, everything works fine. The moment I switch the Audio system down, TV speaker Active Audio System Active messages start flashing on the screen. Is there a setting that will help me to get rid of this issue? I've already reset the TV & painfully configured the apps etc. Please help
Regards,

Try disabling Bravia Sync and Control for HDMI on both devices, but them through a power cycle, then test them before enabling these features again. This usually works for these kinds of issues.

Turned off how? Put into Standby, or turned off at the mains?
If the former, try the latter, as a test.
If it no longer occurs, then the Onkyo is likely still advertising its presence to the TV when it is in standby - so the TV tries to use it - but is then refusing the connection because it is in standby.
Rinse and repeat....
And you will need to ask about this on an Onkyo Community, where they may have a fix for you.
There are quite a few HDMI bugs introduced with the update - if a factory reset didn't cure it then I'd assume its the update, though I have only very occasionally had no sound, with my Marantz I now have to switch the TV and /or receiver off and on several times to get 5.1 sound to work with onboard apps, and there are general HDMI switching issues that didn't exist before
There's a detailed thread on the austrian sony forum so might be worth checking there - though the HDMI bugs focus on Apple TV issues, they do impact many other devices https://community.sony.co.uk/t5/android-tv/erfahrungen-mit-pie-atv2-fw-6-7140/m-p/3727479#M46727
@royabrown2 Hello. Let's call it standby. I never had this issue with Android TV 8 or, 7 the default version shipped with my TV. I've secured the cables once again today and will post the results soon. Thank you for your valued suggestions.

@Tonycv51 Hello there! I truly believe it is some new bugs introduced with Android TV 9. Well, was hoping to find some settings that might stop this minor annoyance. As a fix, I am keeping the Audio system always on (had a habit of turning everything off (standby) before bed every night).
Thanks for the pointer.
regards,
@Win_88 Merry Christmas! Thank you, your suggestion looks like fixed the annoyance. I opted to say "looks like" because I didn't get much TV time today.
If anyone else is wondering how to configure Bravia Sync on Android 9, Please follow Settings->Watching Tv->External Inputs.
I've disabled the ARC function from ONKYO, disabled Bravia Sync. Power cycled both devices and turned on ARC and Bravia Sync. Tried to replicate the earlier reported behavior few times & couldn't. Will monitor for next few days before closing this topic.
Thanks! Happy New Year in advance!
@rajthampi Glad to hear that. I'll take it for now
let us know if you face more trouble.
Merry Christmas and Happy new year.

@Win_88Greetings! Well, as I have mentioned, I didn't have much TV time last couple of days & yes, the reported issue is back. This time I was making a note of sequences to reproduce the behavior
Currently the only solution is to turn on the audio system to stop this behavior.
I will try to go through your suggested once again today and post the results.
