My phone (Xperia 5) notifications are turned on all times. I am unable to clear it. Doesn't affect the performance but a bit annoying. I have restarted the phone and turned the notifications off and on but nothing happens. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello again everyone and I'm sorry for the late reply, I was out of office due to sickness.
During my time out of office I received some new information and the unexpected behaviour with the missed called notification.
The unexpected behaviour is planned to be fixed in a future update of the Google Phone app with estimated roll out start date 25th of November 2019. The roll out will continue until early December.
Thanks again for all the reports and thank you for your patience.

The only way I found to get rid of them at least temporarily is by missing another call and instead of going on the phone app to clear it access it from the notification drop down.
Unless you aren't referring to phone calls but all notifications in general? If so see if it still happens in safe mode, if it does you'll need to factory reset.

Same here. I have a permanent "dot"-notification that doesnt' seem to reset. It's at 2 now...
I have tried the following:
- Cleared call log
- Cache and data cleared for phone app
- Rebooted (several times...)
- Have had new missed calls after the problem appeared

Same.
Appeared in the last day or so.
I've tried multiple solutions offered for older Android phones and none have worked; closing the app, clearing the cache, clearing the data, rebooting etc. Nothing.
I remember having this issue with an older Xperia, but it never happened on my XZ Premium. I'd be grateful also of any solution. It'd be nice if it came from Sony!

I've just started using a Sony Xperia 5 and have this problem. Looks like I'm running Pie 9 release 55.0.A.7.115.
Oh how I miss those reliable Nokia phones!!!!!

Hello,
I need adwise regarding standard phone app. After first missed calls there is a number how many missed calls there is. Still increasing, no reset when opened calls list. No change from opening from status bar neither tapping blue phone icons. Message icon works fine. Phone restart doesnt help. App restart doesnt help.
Many thanks.

dawetygrik - Please see the link above your post. Update coming to the Phone app that should resolve.
In the interim, I just call my own mobile from another number & deliberaely miss the call and this resets the notification badge after opening the phone app and looking at the missed call.
