Z3 Compact is amazing! But can't get some things to work...

Hi everyone,

this is my first Sony phone, which I bought to replace my Galaxy S4. Went this route because of the reported awesome battery life and because I was fed up with such a "big" phone, and wanted somethign smaller. The flagship-speced Z3 Compact was the obvious choice.

I've only had it for close to 4 days, and I'm in love. Xperias Android Skin is so much smoother, complete and logical than Samsungs, while the phone is much cooler and premium-feeling.

So far there's three things I can't figure out though.

1. By reading, it seems it's a common problem, some reporting some things fixed it, most don't Facebook Events and Birthdays to show up on the Calendar. My Galaxy S4 showed both. I've only managed to have events show up on my Calendar, but can;t figure out why Birthdays are not there, and how to add them. Any solutions?

2. Message/Notification counts. ON the Galaxy S4, Whatsapp and Line, for example, had a little balloon showing the number of unread messages/notification that the app was reporting. On my Z3 Compact, this is not the case, not even with something more "stock" such as Hangouts, which I use as default SMS client. I know it does such a thing, because the Email app does show the amount of unread emails in a orange-yellowish balloon. Help?

Other than those two... I adore this phone. Got close to 60 hours of usual usage out of a single charge, with not a single moment of lag, performance drop or Stamina mode enablment.. That's witchcraft, if you ask me.

3. Email app: I can't find an option to have the client always show images by default, instead of always clicking "Show Images" and then "Always show images". Where can I set this up?

First of all thanks to sony team for this wonderfull product . For me this is the perfect gadget in terms of size and functionality . I wrote a previous post about z1 compact and what i want in my next phone , and thank sony team for delivering . coming from samsung s3 ,s4 , iphone 5 , these are indeed great gadgets but i never felt like keeping them for one reason or other .  Z3 compact is only gadget which i am going to keep for long term for sure . its difficult to point out any con's about his phone and i dont like to do that but i think as a user i should help sony tem to consider these for future devices.

 1. Camera glass is prone to scratches

2- back glass is not as scratch resisant as front

3- can we have a 32 gig o internal memory please

4- dont increase size of future compact devices .

5- Camera is great ,but could you please make it better just like windows are doing with updates . sensor is big , but details are better in low res cameras .

hello friend alfin can fix it for those located on application icons yellow balloons when we have unread messages as well as in the samsung galaxy? ami I spend like those balloons me you do not get in whastapp, line, intagram only leave me in facebook, email, messenger facebookj

Hi all, I've had my z3 compact for a few months now and I'm really disappointed in the camera. I was using the xperia s before this and was totally in love with the pictures I could get wit it.

But the z3 comp. I don't think I've got a good photo yet and I've been fidlding with settings and I was well practiced using the S. I almost exclusively use the manual settings for a variety of uses, landscape views, close ups of plants and insects, action shots of people doing activities etc. Along with (don't laugh) photographing my nail art (ie close ups of my fingers!)

Particularly it seems to fall down doing close ups and getting the white balance right. None of the WB settings seem right and auto is ok but I'm not keen on the 'autoness' of it.

But with xperia S I could take a fantastic picture of a bee on a flower (or sparkly manicure), I'm no even talking about the mystery macro setting that would occaisionally appear in the S, just regular close ups from a distance of about 15cm. And the WB settings were usually good.

It there anything to be done to get the camera app to function as the xperia s did?

I took months to figure out the camera.the auto mode and settings are dire unless you are in bright sunlight.it took me a while (i know i'm not the sharpest) to realise you could do the old atstyle half press to set focus and everything before doing full shutter release.you can do this on screen as well.i kept trying to use tue camera button on the side as this worked amazing on my old nokia n8 but no matter what you put as your main setting the button only ever launches auto mode.i have now managed to get good pics by using the hold and pause on screen in place of half press, before releasing. Also turn on tracking and if you are taking fast pics set wb to fluorescent no matter what and it speeds up the shutter.you will just have to rejig the colour balance after.i tried using 3rd party aps and it showed the camera is more than capable of great photos but sadly the memory-android issues for 3ed party aps made it far too unreliable.sony just need to sort out their software to cope with the grey skies of the uk

I have the same problem with the synchronization of calendar and contacts the small size photos.

Xperia with Facebook malfunctions and it's a flagship phone.

Please indicate with this problem in a support, but did not get a solution.
I was hoping that after updating to Lollipop problem will be solved, but it did not happen.
You can make use applications Sync. ME and Calendar Sync for Facebook.
