Sony WF 1000XM4 Left Earbud draining 10 times faster than right

Like the title states, my left earbud randomly started draining extremely fast.

I suspect the 2.0.1 firmware.

I bought these in Denmark on February 17 last year and now they are essentially worthless as I can only use the left earbud for about 40 minutes.

I have since moved countries to Japan, so I don't know what to do about warranty now 😞

I have a attached pictures showing the battery drain using both over about 1 hour.

Sony please respond.

I tried all the remedies on here, but only the Sony Repair Centre, or
whatever it's called, was able to sort it for a small fee.

How much did they charge, was this in the UK?

Thanks

No, unless you pay.

Ashamed of Sony and will not be purchasing any of their products anymore.

I think it's somewhere else on the thread. Maybe £34?

Hey,

I don't mean to be a party pooper but after trying all the things people suggested on here (which didn't work) I contacted Sony.

I am pleased to say they fixed the issue free of charge and even covered the postage both ways so needless to say I am pretty happy with the service. I think they are aware of the issue so I would suggest contacting them. I was always happy with the earphones but did get annoyed when the battery suddenly went bad. But if they fix it free of charge who am I to complain. My faith in Sony is restored. Hope it works out for you guys too!

Thanks

I think it was free inside their extended 2 year warranty period.

Left black earbud WF1000XM4 unfortunately got run over before Xmas. Sourced a replacement white left earbud with new battery from eBay for £39 as Sony wanted to charge £125 to send into Service Centre and replace. Paired the new white earbud with my existing black right earbud no trouble at all.....then made the mistake of updating Firmware to version 2.3.1, white earbud with new battery is fine but black right earbud (old battery) has been affected. Charge dropped from 62% to 8% mid update and since new firmware installed it will not charge properly to 100% and drains way faster than it did before, drops below 70% after 20mins use if not faster. Rang Sony today after reading this thread + another one on Reddit where people have had the same issue. Got the usual "out of warranty" blah blah blah response, now escalated as a complaint and awaiting an update within next 48hrs. I have demanded that earbud affected by the 2.3.1 firmware is repaired or replaced at no charge so watch this space!
