Hi, I have found the NWZ-A845 with the supplied headphones is quite heavy on the bass. I haven't found the need to use the built-in equalizer either. It's possible that the format/bit-rate of the music files you are using on the player is not offering sufficient playback quality. I'm using a 320kps bit rate MP3 files originating from CD synced out to the player via Windows Media Player. Perhaps the files you are playing do not have a high enough bit rate. You can see the bit rate on the player by selecting the 'Option' button when a track is playing and selecting 'Detailed Information'. Amongst other details the bit rate will be displayed. Rgds.
