max - Assuming that your router is not faulty, it is possible that you have a faulty driver for your WLAN adapter. I recently had serious problems achieving and maintaining a connection with the Intel 2200bg adapter - though this is not the only one affected. Intel's driver packages for some of their wireless adapter products were faulty - if you contact the nice people at vaio, they can send you a driver update, if of course, your WLAN adapter is one of those affected. After installing the update, I have had no problems, everything is hunkydory.
good luck
