WLAN not working, no light

Hi everyone

I recently brought a NR21J/S and my wireless internet connection was working fine until a couple of days ago. The wlan switch is on but i the light is no longer on and it cannot find any networks to connect to.

When i try to diagnose why it can't find any networks it says "wireless capability on this computer are turned off". It then tells me to turn the switch on, but it already is.

I assume it is a problem with my laptop and not my belkin router or modem as i'm able to connect wirelessly to my network using my mobile.

Any help would be much appreciated

Hi stocker84,

welcome to Club Vaio..

Is your wireless network connection enabled.?

You can check this in Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network Connections

Thanks Thalamus for your reply and the welcome

I have just checked whether the wireless is enabled and it appears that it is.

Do you think it could be a faulty wlan card or am i missing something simple as i am new to wireless internet?

In the system tray do you have an icon with LAN and or B written on it?

If you do double click it and make sure that there is a tick next to the "enable 2.4GHz wireless lan" and click ok

Hi stocker84,

click Start, then click on Control Panel.

In the Control Panel Window, under Network & Internet, click on View network Status and tasks.

In the left hand column of the Network Sharing window click on Manage Network Connections.

A new window should open.

On the tool bar, select View and select Tiles.

Then look at the Wireless Network Connection icon, under the words Wireless Network Connection does it state Disabled or Not connected.?

Thanks Matt and Thalamus for all your help. I've now got the wireless connection back

I found an icon that you said about matt, and it appears it had turned itself off so its back on again now and working fine.

Thanks again

One suggestion is to make sure you have the latest version of the smart network program. It can be downloaded here
