Windows 7 Ultimate networking problem

My VPCCW2S1E came with 64-bit Windows 7 Home Edition, and I upgraded it to Windows 7 Ultimate.  Since then, it's not good at communicating with other devices.

  • it can't access the NAS drive on the home network by name, I have to use the IP address
  • it can't see the wireless printer on the home network
  • synchronising with my Nokia phone just hangs for ever
  • it can't access the U3 USB device I use for backups

I have network discovery, file and printer sharing enabled, so what's the issue?

I have the same problem. I beleive that it might be a firewall problem but cant say for sure

I think you're right - I don't have those issues now. I think they went away when I stopped using F-Secure and installed Norton Internet Security instead (I can't be sure now, as it was just over a year ago now).

You can possibly isolate the issue. Try disabling the Windows firewall first if it is causing theis. Then try to boot up using Safe Mode with Networking. http://imagicon.info/cat/12-13/vbulletin-smile.gif
