stupid auto brightness adjustment when the lights are off

Can anyone tell me how to remove, or disable this stupid feature?
Its annoying as I prefer lighter mode when its dark when these "clever" sony designers have assumed.

I dont mind backlit keyboard turning on and off.

welcome to Club VAIO..

I'm not sure if the procedure is the same for your Vaio model but try this..

Click Start, then All Programs followed by VAIO control Center.

Click on VAIO Power management Viewer then click on Automatic Brightness Setting.

Then remove the tick in the box next to Adjust brightness Automatically.
