hi need help, just brought a second hand vaio vgn-nw20efs it didnt come with a recovery disc and i do not know if the owner before me made a copy of the discs, is there any way i can find this out? the laptop was full of viruses and other stuff i do not want so i would like to restore it back to factory, can someone please advise me on what to do, thankyou

The VGN-NW20EFS should have a hidden HDD recovery partition and as long as that is still intact
you should be able to restore the Sony supplied Windows OS and the pre-installed applications.
To do this Start your Vaio and when you see the Vaio logo press the F10 key repeatedly, hopefully this should start the recovery process using the hidden HDD recovery partition.
Then follow the recovery instructions to complete the process..
If the above fails to work then you can, if you wish, purchase a set of recovery discs from Vaio support which should allow you to restore the original Vaio supplied OS and applications..

Under Log-in option 1: Enter your vaio models serial number, which you should find on the bottom of your Vaio.
Then click Log-In
Once logged select Get In Touch.
Then Click on the Out of Warranty tab, then Phone support.
