Hello all,
I use my vaio for one month.
I am very disappointed of its configuration.
The boot time takes many minutes
.
So I decided: I will install vaio myself.
I have bought an original XP Professional.
I will formated HD and create new partitions.
Perhaps are the sounds of hd (click-click) gone?
Please help:
Has anybody new installed ?
I do not mean the system recovery from ghost partition.
What drivers should I install?
Where to get them?
First of all the integrated camera, slot for cards and blue tooth and wlan.
The 3rd party applications such adobe I do not need at all.
Thanks for any support.
I expect to create myself vaio as very usefull machine without any balast.

Hi,
First of all, I would say that the configuration of FE11S is excellent.
Your computer starts up slowly, it might be because of the software applications that your recently installed.
I completely agree with VAIO when they devide the hard drive into 2 partition C and D (and an invisible one). C is used for OS (windows) and your applications. D is used for back-up, your important data. Killing the ghost partition (about 7-8GB) would not help much because your have 160GB together.
The clicking sound seem to be normal, sadly, most people experienced it and so did I.
If you want to re-install, the drive is on the vaio web support

go to download, there is also instruction for you.
I would agree with you that VAIO has too many pre-installed application, that makes the computer full of <profanity removed by moderator>, you can uninstall what you dont need.
