Hi... My wife purchased a FZ31Z this week and on starting for only the second time she has a black screen with the message....The file is possibly corrupt. The file header checksum does not match the computed checksum..... Restarting gives the same result. Any help would be appreciated.....Brendan.
Hi Brendan,
Sounds like something has corrupted a system file. Have you installed or attached any new hardware on the Vaio that may not be Vista compatible?
As the Vaio is so new I would do two things: -
First, return the Vaio to its factory settings and reinstall the system. You will lose any programs or data added since new but you can't have much installed yet.
1. Connect the mains adapter
2. Turn on your Vaio
3. At the very first Vaio Logo screen press F10 repeatedly
3. If the 'Edit Boot Options' screen appears, press 'ENTER
4. If you are asked to select a Keyboard or an Operating System, just choose 'Skip' and 'Next'
5. Choose Vaio Recovery Centre and follow the screen steps to 'Restore Complete System' and 'Start'
6. Do not interrupt the recovery process - even if it appears to have stopped.
If this does not produce a satisfactory outcome, then do the Second thing: -
Take the Vaio back to the shop and get a replacement.

Hi Blencogo....Sorry for the in replying. Other problems have since occured. We have sent it back. Thanks for your time.....Brendan.
