FTP error on VAIO update

I've only tried the VAIO Update once and it crashed after 40 minutes with FTP error. This might be due to a slow connection from 3 Mobile Broadband - 0.6Mbps download, 0.4Mbps upload, or because I've blocked many items from starting up (by unticking 'Load startup items' in Selective startup in System Configuration). However plenty of things work OK including updates by Norton Internet Security 2008. Any thoughts?

If so have you tried manually downloading the updates.?

You can check and download updates for your vaio via the Sony support download page, Use the following link then select your model in the drop down list to download the update: Sony Support Downloads
