FN Key and Adjusting Brightness

Hi all...
In need of big help here. I don't seen to be able to adjust my brightness using my FN key anymore. I've up to date with all the updates but this is causing me big problems as the battery only lasts a half an hour.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello there!

First of all, tell us what changed and you can't control FN functions any longer?
Did you upgrade to Vista?
If yes, tell me which Vaio model you have and i may be able to help you.

welcome to Club VAIO..

Open your browser and go to Sony Vaio Support download site, use the following link: http://www.vaio-link.com/downloads/preinstalled/preinstalled.asp?site=voe_en_GB_cons

Select your Vaio model from the list and download the Original Utilities Package.

Once downloaded extract the files and install the following in order.

1 SonyUtils DLL
2 Sony Shared Library
3 Vaio Event Service
4 Setting Utility Series

Once completed re-start your vaio.

You may have to do this more than once..

Appreciated the help with this issue. I downloaded what you said but there seems to be 11 folders i.e. "Utils Installer 1 - Utils Installer 11" none of which have the following:

1 SonyUtils DLL
2 Sony Shared Library
3 Vaio Event Service
4 Setting Utility Series

I am using a VGN-FS415E running XP if this is any help.

from memory it should be the following folders..

1 Sony Utilities (folder 1)
2 Sony Shared Library (folder 2)
3 Vaio Event Service (folder 7)

If you wish to check, open each folder and double click on the Setup.ini, then look at the app name..

Thanks so much Thalamus because of a problem with my original HDD i had to replace and reinstall vista

When i switched back on my screen was so bright and my F keys didn't work thanks to your post everything is perfect and your advice worked 100%
