loud humming/buzzing/whining noise kdl40w2000 tv, what is this problem?

hi, my 4 year old tv has developed a very loud noise emanating from top left back of set. it comes on immediately the tv is switched on and is so loud the programmes are difficult to hear and its so disturbing.  could anyone advise what the problem might be and if i could expect sony to repair it?

Hard to say over the Internet, could be the inverter but only a service centre would be able to properly diagnose it. Should be able to find your local one at the top of the page.
