Hi all.
After only 1 year and 5 months ownership and not very much use my KDL40EX403 has developed a screen fault. Very disappointed that a supposed good quality equipment should go wrong so soon.
Full picture is present but vertically down the centre, superimposed over the picture is a band of 14 columns of RGB slots lit up (so virtually a white vertical stripe over the picture). The picture can be seen behind this superimposed vertical band.
I see that there is a topic from Lee at customer care with a list of Bravia that have developed what sounds to be a similar fault but my set does not seem to be listed......has there been any further development from when this last fixed topic was raised by Lee.
How do I contact Lee?? Where to look to see if any further models have now been listed tor fixing by agents??
Perhaps Lee reads these posts and can get back to me?
Dennis
PS my nearest Sony centre is 45 miles away from rural N Devon.
Latest development on this fault.

1. From me
My KDL40EX403 Sn. 9022514. which I have had for only 1 year and 5 months seems to have developed a fault. I am dissapointed that a fault has developed this evening. Full picture is present but vertically down the centre, superimposed over the picture is a band of 14 colums of RGB slots lit up. The picture can be seen behind this superimposed vertical band. My first Sony bought many years ago lasted at least 30 years, and I replaced it 3 years 9months ago with a KDL40S3000U which is still ok. I have bought Sony because of their quality so am very very dissapointed that a fault should develop in such a short period. | |||||||||||||||||||

3. From me
You have totally ignored my point that the TV is only 1 year and 5 months old. I believe that a supposed good quality item should not have developed a fault within that time. If you have no authority to take this case further then please pass it on to someone of higher authority who has.
I am quite aware how to find a Sony suport centre. MY POINT IS, AGAIN THAT I SHOULD NOT BE EXPERIANCING A FAULT WITHIN THAT PERIOD OF OWNERSHIP ON A GOOD QUALITY ITEM .
Please pass this on to someone in the Sony
headquarters with higher authority.

Thank you for your reply.
I do apologise your television has developed an issue, in such a short period of time.
As the television is outside the warranty period, any repair would be chargeable.
We can not consider any goodwill or compensation toward a repair of this TV.
Should you require further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Yours sincerely

My comment at this point.....so Sony are quite happy to acknowledge that this model can go wrong after only one year 5 months and tough you will have to pay a repair bill!!!!!! Not the poor quality I would expect from a Sony. I would expect them to investigate the problem which must surely be due to a manufacturing/unusual component fault in order for them to take early action to avoid the debacle like they had with the KDL-32D etc. fault which lost them a lot of customers and faith.

Further info. 22 Nov. Phoned the 0844 8466 555 number given in another post and found I was connected to someone in Cairo Egypt. The jist of the conversation was that they would arrange a book in for repairs, a repair estimate would be sent to me and I should send that together with certificate of purchase to head office in Basingstoke. When questioned about cost of possible repair was told not to worry Sony would be able to repair it for me at no cost to myself as good will customer care gesture. I would receive a further phone call within 2 hours giving instructions...........3 hours still waiting for phone call. No incident or reference number given so will continue to wait in hope.
