Just updated my wifi to fibre, now can't get any programmes to play on iplayer...just get this message: 'internet download failed because content size exceeded memory limit'. TV is Sony Bravia KDL-32W705C. It worked OK before, Netflix still works fine.
Hi there,
Have you tried a reset? You can see more details on how to perform this here.
Let me know how you get on?
Best wishes,
Sean Mc
Yes I tried a reset. Other people have also discussed resetting, and factory reset to resolve this issue with these models, with no success. I suspect it is because the software is no longer updateable.
Sony have been apparently discussing the issue with the bbc since 2016!! not impressed that they haven't, solved the problem yet, or at least found the fault.
Hi chrony,
Have you tried creating a Wi-Fi hot spot using a smart phone (on mobile data), then tether the TV to your phone and try using BBC iPlayer? If the app works, I'd recommend getting in touch with your ISP to check if the recent change in your connection could have caused this in any way.

This is an issue on the iPlayer help pages so probably a BBC problem rather than a Sony one. But as usual we get crap responses from both.
I'm not sure what win_88 suggests is workable. I doesnt solve the problem with TV app (Sony or BBC) and just seems a fudged work around to determine that you internet isn't the cause.
The fact that I can watch it on my computer OK, would suggeat the internet connection is OK, it would seem to be more to do with the wireless connection between my Sony TV and the router. (which is now upgraded to a smart Hub)
Hi,
I'll let my Sony contact know about this to see if they can offer more help.

I watched 2 or 3 episodes of Sherlock a few days ago on my Sony Bravia TV, but today I can't get either of 2 different episodes to load due to the quoted error message. Fed up!
Same here, haven’t used this function since late 2019. Today getting the internet failed message. Annoying.
