Connecting to the internet Question

Hello,

I have a quick question regarding how to connect to the internet with a Sony TV. The TV model I am interested in purchasing (EX524) has two USB ports and an ethernet socket. I have wireless internet in my home via a dongle and router. I understand that I can purchase the specific Sony dongle to attach to the back of the TV. However, I am wondering if I can also position my router nearer the TV and simply attach it using an ethernet cable? This would save me €60 and also free up a USB port. Is this possible? The information I have read and watched mentions this is possible with a broadband router, but I am wondering if this is also possible with a wireless router? I don't understand why it wouldn't be.

Hope someone can shed more light on this subject,

Br
